Come out and check out the best underground snowmobile event ever. Huckfest is non- race atmosphere that has something for
everyone. The first Huckfest was held April 7th 2009. The turnout was awesome, there were 21 different jumps, a full snocross track, back-country hillclimbs, and some sleds going big!! This is a festival for snowmobilers and all skill levels are invited. There are bbq’s, giveaways, freestyle demo’s by the Alpine Assassins Team, and new events for all to enjoy. Last year the 110 foot gap claimed at least 2 sleds, mangled like a pretzel, but no riders sustained serious injuries. The riding was so good that people were everywhere, track, freestyle jumps, and getting deep in the Castle Peak back-country. The encampment was just over the ridge from the D.L.I. parking area, about a ten minuet ride and when you come out of the trees, boom there is some serious piles of snow. Matt, and Ricky put in almost three evenings of pushing snow to build this compound out in the back-country. They put in a track with Hips, step ups, step downs, tables, and then a big 110′ snow to snow gap. The landing for the 110′ gap was also a landing for an 80′, 70′, and 55′ gaps, they were a freestyle park infused with the track. In the morning of the second day a cross hip got put in that went over the landing sideways. Thats when 5 riders all decided to hit all the freestyle jumps at the same time, it ended up that they would go in a sequence but that was still within two seconds. Sleds were so close landing on the same landing and then across it. It looked like someone was going to land on someone else, but they pulled it off. The weather was classic Tahoe spring, blue skies, no wind, 70 degrees, and 10 feet of snow. People we’re getting tan and getting after it on their sleds. There were a few people that snow camped Saturday night. A big bonfire and a little night riding for the adventurous ones, made for a great spring season jam. For 2010 Huckfest will be held twice. One in the Salt Lake City area, most likely outside of Ogden UT. The dates are still being finalized, but it is looking like the first week in April. The other Huckfest will be held in the Sierra Mountains around the Lake Tahoe area. This is the biggest underground snomobile event in the Sierra and it will be bigger and better for 2010. Last year Huckfest saw over 100 sleds, and this season we are expecting more! The dates and locations will be posted soon, so keep checking in on when we will be holding the Biggest and Baddest underground snowmobile event for all to enjoy!
